Biography

Andreia Rebotim graduated in Marine Biology and Biotechnology (Institute Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal), completed her master in Ocean Sciences – Marine Resources (University of Oporto, Portugal) and holds a PhD in Natural Sciences from University of Bremen (Germany). Her main focus has been in planktonic foraminifera (unicellular organisms with a carbonate shell), aiming to enhance their utility in reconstructing past oceanic and climatic conditions through the understanding of their ecology (habitat depth, environmental factors) and geochemistry (stable isotopes and trace elements). More recently, she has been investigating the use of rare earth elements in planktonic foraminifera shells as an indicator for productivity conditions. Currently, she is a post-doc researcher for IrmaPex Project - Integrative Reconstruction of Exported Marine Primary Production: a vertical water column approach for Centro de Ciências do Mar of Algarve.
