Biography

Berislav Momčilović (BM) the principal investigator was born on Feb 27 1942 in Zagreb, Croatia. After graduation in Zagreb Yugoslavia in 1961, he enrolled in the Medical School (Faculty) University of Zagreb. He was promoted to the Medical Doctor in 1966 and joined the Croatian Medical Association (CMA). In 1967 he became a Science Apprentice at the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health (IMI), Zagreb, Yugoslavia.  He became Master of Sciences (MSc)in 1960, PhD (PhD) in 1973. In the years 1973-1975 he was Post-Doctoral Fellow of the National Research Council of Canada at the Health AND Welfare CANADA, Bureau of Nutritional Sciences, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He returned to IMI and became Associated Professor in Science in 1978 and Full Professor in Science in 1980. He finished his specialization in Internal medicine in 1984 and became certified Fellow in Internal Medicine, and in two years later a CMA certified fellow in specialized the Occupational Health Medicine from 1986-1988 he was the Head of the Clinical Department of the Occupational Health at IMI. He is a Court Expert for Occupational Health since 1986. In 1990 he was the Chairman of the Seventh International Symposium on Trace Elements in Men and Animals (TEMA 7), in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia. Since 1992 to 1996 he was the Visiting Research Scientist at the USDA ARS Human Nutria ion Research Center in Grand Forks, ND, USA. Risible 1997 he is the adjunct Professor at Department of Physics at the University of North Dakota, USA in Grand Forks. In 1996 he returned to IMI, Zagreb, now Croatia, and in 2001 he became the Head of the Laboratory for Analytical and Physical Chemistry at IMI. At the age of 65 years older in 2002 when he was mandatory retired at IMI. And he moved to the Institute for Research and Development of the sustainable Eco Systems (I(RES), Zagreb Croatia as Prof. Emeritus. He published more than 300 scientific articles, congress communications and book chapters on bioinorganic Chemistry) Mineral Metabolism) in Clinical and Environmental Medicine, respectively. BM got cited over 2000 times.
