Biography

Francesca Lionetto is an Assistant Professor in Principles of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Innovation Engineering of the University of Salento (Italy), where she received her PhD title in Materials Engineering in 2004. She has been a visiting scientist at the University of Nottingham (UK) and at the University of Kaiserslautern (Germany). She is Assistant Professor of “Transport Phenomena” at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Salento.

She is the author of over 140 scientific publications in international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. She is a member of the editorial board of three international scientific journals and reviewer for about 40 international journals. She is the author of two national patents and one European patent application. Her scientific activity is carried out at the Transport Phenomena, Composite Materials and Polymeric Materials laboratories of the Department of Innovation Engineering of the University of Salento. It is related to rheological, thermal and mass transport properties of polymers and polymer based composites and nanocomposite materials. More specifically, her research interests are:

- Development and characterization of new polymers and polymer matrix composites from the point of view of rheological, thermal and mass transport properties

- Development and characterization of new nanostructured materials

- Monitoring and optimization of production technologies for new polymeric and composite materials

- Development of new multi-material hybrid welding technologies (metal/polymer and metal/composite)

- Modeling of heat transfer processes in multi-material hybrid welding technologies

- Valorization of polymer and composite materials at the end of their life

- Synthesis and characterization of model nanoplastics of environmental relevance, study of the absorption of pollutants on nanoplastics.
