Biography

Giovanni Magno received his Ph.D. in 2015 from the Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy) for his thesis on "Mesoscopic Self-Collimation in Photonic Crystal Structures". From 2015 to 2020, he was a researcher at C2N-CNRS (Centre for Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies) in Palaiseau (France), where he worked on a variety of projects, including the numerical design and nearfield characterization of plasmonic nanotweezers for micro and nanoparticle manipulation, the design and near-field experimental characterization of integrated electron beam optical modulators based on plasmonic nanoantennas, and the development of a time-domain opto-thermal simulator able to take into account phase change in inhomogeneous media, for the analysis of laser-matter interaction in additive manufacturing processes. Since December 2020, he has been a research fellow in electromagnetic fields at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy), where he works on the design and characterization of optical and microwave devices, with a particular focus on optical metasurfaces for augmented reality applications and reconfigurable reflective intelligent surfaces with graphene
