Viruses and Cancer

Both DNA and RNA can cause cancer in humans. When the human immune system is weak, viruses can lead to cancer by associating with host proteins, proliferating human cells. Compared to other viruses, Human tumor viruses are not much common than other viruses, as they infect, but do not kill their host cells. There are 4 major DNA viruses that are capable in developing cancer in humans.

  • Epstein-Barr virus
  • Human papilloma virus
  • Hepatitis B virus
  • Human herpes virus-8
