Infection of skin and other soft tissues may cause infection of bones and joints. Orthopaedic infections, if not treated they may become chronic. Infections enter the body through wounds and other injuries. Bacteria, viruses, and parasites carrying infection that get into the body can destroy healthy tissue, multiply and spread through blood. Having certain chronic diseases puts you at greater risk for infections.
