Biography

Amit Kumar Kesharwani is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Department of Plant Pathology, Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center, Washington State University, Washington, USA. He earned his Doctorate in Biotechnology (Plant pathology) from Amity University, Noida and Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India and has an expertise in microbiology, plant pathology and plant-microbe interaction. His research work enhances the understanding of bacterial pathogenesis in host. He has developed multiplex-PCR to diagnose the phytopathogen Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (Xcc), visualize the infection process of Xcc in host plant, whole genome sequence resource of Indian race 4 of Xcc, identified the source of resistance in cauliflower against black rot, characterized the role of avr genes of Xcc during pathogenesis in crucifer crops. He has built this method after years of experience in research and education. Presently, his research focused on Phytopathological diseases such as Fire blight and X-diseases of orchards like Apple, cherry and, Pear caused by Gram negative Erwinia and phytoplasma, antimicrobial resistance in phytopathogens, CRISPR/CAS based diagnosis. He is actively involved in the development of new and advance research with his experience in the field of Plant Pathology and Advanced Microbiology. He has recipient of ‘DST-Young Scientist’ International Travel grant from Science and Engineering Research Board, Govt. of India and University of Florida, USA to visit Florida, USA. He has published his research in SCI(E)/Scopus journals & recipient of prestigious scientific awards, honors, and memberships. He is also providing his services in prestigious journals as Review Editor (Frontiers in Virology) and Reviewer (BMC Microbiology, Scientific Reports, Plant Science
