Katarzyna Petka- Poniatowska PhD eng. is an assistant professor at the University of Agriculture in Krakow, in Faculty of Food technology and human nutrition. She defended her doctoral thesis in 2022, the topic of which was the possibility of degradation of acrylamide by lactic acid bacteria. Her scientific interests are directly related to the quality and safety of food products, but also to the impact of diet on human health (she has a master's degree in dietetics and human nutrition). For half a year she was on a research internship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where she was involved in the project about assessment of adherence to diet using various self-monitoring tools, including mobile applications. She also had a one-month research internship at the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno, where she dealt with microbiology of the cold chain of meat food products. From the beginning of her scientific work, she has combined dietetics with food technology - she looks for the possibility of developing new food products enriched with bioactive ingredients.
