Tara Balen is currently a final year undergraduate student of Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology, University of Split. In 2020, she graduated from “Matija Antun Reljković” Gymnasium in Vinkovci. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Split and enrolled in the first year of the undergraduate Chemistry program at the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology, University of Split. In the summer of 2022, she completed a mandatory two-week internship at the Laboratory for Radiological Chemistry and Dosimetry of the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb. At the moment, she is participating in an international student exchange program (ERASMUS+) at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Gdańsk, Poland. Her involvement at the home university began in 2021 when she became part of the organizing committee of the 7th Symposium of Chemistry Students, a traditional student conference on chemistry and related sciences at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. Over the next two years, she actively promoted her profession and faculty by organizing and volunteering in various scientific and sports activities and conferences. At the end of 2022, she was successfully elected for the two-year term of the Student Council of the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology, the representative body of the students of the faculty, where she serves as a representative of undergraduate Chemistry students and a representative of students in the Faculty Promotion Commission. As of 2024, Tara is a member of the following associations: Croatian Chemical Society (HKD), Student Section of the Association of Chemical Engineers and Technologists Split (SSUKITS), Club of Young Chemists of Serbia (KMHS), and the European Medical Students' Association Split (EMSA Split). Tara is professionally interested in nuclear sciences, and her aspiration is to work at CERN, Switzerland, but also to become yacht captain and/or an entrepreneur.
