Biography

Dr Madjid MORSLI is a PhD in infectious diseases. He has expertise in molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases and human genetic diseases. He developed a new pathway based on real-time metagenomics to diagnose life-threatening community-acquired meningitis in less than four hours. He worked on this approach during his doctoral thesis. He has participated to the development and standardization of sequencing protocol of early Covid-19 cases, as well as the improvement of the quality of COVID diagnosis. He also evaluated the ARCTIC protocol for direct whole genome sequencing of SARS-COV-2 virus directly from nasal swabs at the IHU of Marseille. Currently, he is working at the University Hospital of Nîmes in an R&D position, developing a new diagnostic method for diabetic foot infections based on real-time sequencing, aiming to facilitate the application of this strategy to CNS infections and other life-threatening diseases not routinely documented at the point-of-care laboratory, as well as the genomic surveillance of emerging and reemerging pathogens in Occitanic region.
