Bioinformatics in Genetics

Bioinformatics is related to genetics and genomics. It is a scientific sub-discipline that involves using computer technology to collect, store, analyse and disseminate biological data and information, like DNA and amino acid sequences or reflections about those sequences.

However, its focus on developing and implementing computationally intensive methods to accomplish this objective sets it apart from other approaches. Some examples are: machine learning algorithms, visualization Sequence alignment, data mining, and pattern recognition, gene discovery, genome assembly, drug design, drug discovery, protein structure prediction, protein structure alignment, prediction of gene expression and protein–protein interactions, genome-wide association studies, and the modelling of evolution and cell division/mitosis are among the major areas of research in this field.
