Dr. Nishant Ranjan is working as a postdoctoral scientist at University of Texas Medical Branch UTMB Galveston, Texas, USA. With over 12 years of research experience, Nishant has been passionate about uncovering the molecular and cellular mechanisms of brain inflammation in Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and viral encephalitis. At UTMB, he collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of experts to investigate the role of interferon response in myeloid cells to prevent kidney damage in Lupus Nephritis. He is exploring how allosteric agonism of Integrins can be used as therapeutics against autoimmunity. His goal is to discover novel targets and interventions that can improve brain/kidney health and function, which ultimately enhance the quality of life of people affected by neurological/autoimmune disorders. Previously he worked as a postdoctoral researcher on understanding the role of interferon response upon SARS-CoV-2 infection at Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, India. He completed his doctoral research on heat-stress induced ischemia and neuroinflammation in hypothalamus and its associated pathophysiology at DIPAS, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi, India. He published in reputed journals like Cell Reports, EMBO Reports, Cancer Research, The EMBO Journal, Autophagy, etc.
