Biography

Dhuha Youssef Wazqar, MScN, Ph.D., is a professor of oncology and palliative care nursing and former Head of the Medical Surgical Nursing Department at King Abdulaziz University. She is a Certified Academic Quality Practitioner, External Academic Reviewer, and SCFHS Certified Examiner and Item Author. She received her Master’s and PhD degrees from the University of Western Ontario, London Ontario, Canada. She has also been frequently recognized with special recognition such as the Queen Al-Gohara Prize for Scientific Excellence in the Medical Sciences around the Kingdom for the Year 2001, the Outstanding Achievement Certificate in the oncology and chemotherapy administration diploma in 2002, and the Certificate of Distinction from the Saudi Cultural Bureau, Ottawa, Canada in 2015. Her research interests cover several areas in oncology and palliative care nursing including family caregivers’ issues, effects of chemotherapy on cognitive function, chemotherapy-related symptoms, sexual dysfunction in cancer patients, and cancer pain management. Prof. Dhuha is a member of the Alpha Alpha Theta Chapter and the Saudi Society for the Education of Health Practitioners, and served as the Editorial Board Member for BMC Nursing; a prestigious peer-reviewed journal with a primary focus on evidence-based care, service delivery, utilization, and evaluation, administration, and human resources.
