Biography

Duygu Abbasoğlu is a distinguished researcher and academic specializing in cancer genetics, pharmacogenetics, pharmacoepigenetics, gene regulation, and the intersection of science and society. She holds a PhD in Biology from Anadolu University, Eskişehir, Turkey, where her thesis focused on pharmacogenetic and pharmacoepigenetic factors influencing drug response in colon cancer treatment. Prior to her doctorate, she earned an MSc in Biology from Ankara University, concentrating on the genetic nature of multidrug resistance in Salmonella enterica. She also holds a BSc in Biology from Ankara University.

Currently, Dr. Abbasoğlu is a post-doctoral researcher at Centre Jean Perrin in Clermont-Ferrand, France, where she is involved in identifying candidate genes associated with hereditary predisposition to non-medullary thyroid cancer. In addition, she serves as a lecturer at Near East University in Nicosia, TRNC, where she teaches courses in medical and molecular biology, the history of life and human evolution, pharmacogenomics, and cancer biology.

Her professional journey includes significant roles as an expert and project researcher at Anadolu University and Ankara University. Notable projects include research on genetic polymorphisms and drug response in cancer treatments.

Dr. Abbasoğlu speaks English and Turkish fluently and has an A2 proficiency level in French. Beyond her academic and research endeavors, she actively participates in workshops and training programs focusing on human rights, freedom of expression, and the social impacts of technological developments. She coordinated the "Eskişehir School Institutional Capacity Building Project" funded by the European Democracy Foundation and has taken active roles in various NGOs. Her work continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
