Graphene

Graphene

Graphene is an atomic-scale, consisting of a single layer(mono layer) of carbon atoms tightly bound in a hexagonal honeycomb lattice nanostructure. It is graphite allotrope of carbon contains numerous double bonds. Each atom in graphene sheet occupy three Sp2 hybrid orbitals with a molecular bond length of 0.142 nanometers. Graphene is  a thinnest compound known to mankind at one atom thick. It is a building-block of graphite which is used in pencil tips and among other things.

Synthetic Graphite and Natural Graphite

Synthetic Graphite and Natural Graphite

Natural Graphite is a mineral which consists of graphitic carbon. It works as an excellent captain of both heat and electricity. It's soft in nature and stable over a wide range of temperatures, whereas Synthetic graphite is a man- made substance manufactured by the high temperature processing of unformed carbon accoutrements . These graphites are having famed operations. In nuclear engineering, a neutron prolocutor is a medium that controls the speed of neutrons. Solid graphite of nearly 20 is used in these chairpersons. Graphite maquillages are used in foundry molds, and graphite lubricants are used in forging dies. Graphite trials are used in foundry to hold molten essence. In integrated sword shops right from melting to the product graphite plays an important part as reducing agent, energy, refractory, lubricant for dies etc. In the construction of batteries like lithium- ion batteries, lithium carbonate batteries, and nickel essence hydride batteriesetc.

Fullerenes

Fullerenes is an allotrope form of carbon whose spherodical molecules consisting  of at least 60 atoms of carbon. One thing that characterizes fullerenes is they have a hollow core, or empty region of space  inside the molecule. It is made up of carbon, and there is always a hollow space inside the structure. Fullerenes are active molecules. Fullerenes molecule can be used as an antioxidant because it can easily react with radicals due to the high affinity of the electron. At the same time, fullerene is used as an anti-aging and anti-damage agent in cosmetic sector and antiviral agents.

Novel Hybrid Carbon Materials

Novel Hybrid Carbon Materials

Large molecular structure blocks needed for mongrel accoutrements , similar as large inorganic clusters, may be of the nanometre length scale. The term mongrel material is more frequently used if the inorganic units are formed in situ by molecular precursors, for illustration applying sol – gel responses. The biggest distinction between a Nano compound and a mongrel is that a mongrel material possesses a property that doesn't live in either of the parent factors. Graphene and single- walled carbon nanotubes are carbon accoutrements that parade excellent electrical conductivities and large specific face areas. An effective, profitable way of using carbon fiber is to combine it with resin and another material, either a fiber or a essence, to produce a cold-blooded structure.

Electrochemistry of Diamond and Nano Carbon Materials

Electrochemistry of Diamond and Nano Carbon Materials

The traditional electrochemical operations for carbon in solid electrode structures for the chlor- alkali assiduity as well as in aluminium refining are giving way to further different operations taking high- face- area carbon i.e., capacitor, energy cells, essence/ air batteries and high- energy lithium batteries. In all of these operations carbon has the desirable combination of respectable electrical conductivity, chemical/ electrochemical comity with the girding terrain, and vacuity in the applicable structure for fabrication into electrodes. In addition, the low cost of carbon relative to other electronic operators is an important advantage for its wide use in electrodes, particularly in electrochemical systems that must contend with being technologies. Diamond electrodes are particularly seductive for electrochemistry.

Graphene Chemistry

Graphene Chemistry

Graphene is the only form of carbon in which each and every atom is available for chemical reaction from both sides because of its 2D structure and it is a two-dimensional form of crystalline carbon, in which single layer of carbon atoms will form a honeycomb lattice or honeycomb structure. Every atom will have a special chemical reaction at the edge of graphene sheet. Graphene materials are used in sensors and biosensors, in electrochemistry and chromatography. Graphene will helps in conducting electricity well because it has delocalized electrons that are free to move in nature. Chemical and electro chemical sensors containing graphene materials are useful devices for detecting some chemical and biochemical compounds.
