Population Genetics

The field of genetics that deals with the description of observed or inferred heritable features in populations over space and time is known as "Population Genetics." Although comprehensive, this definition hides a significant formal heterogeneity. As a matter of fact, population hereditary qualities hypothesis and models are very unique as per the kind of generation of the living being under study. The study of population genetics can be approached theoretically or through a broad range of practical applications like forensics and wildlife management. Eventually, there are two approaches to population genetics based on the type of variation being studied: Mendelian (restricted to characteristics with a discontinuous population distribution, such as blood groups) or quantitative, in which it is impossible to categorize individuals into distinct groups, such as measurable characteristics (height, weight, etc.)
