Catalysis for Chemical Synthesis

Catalysis is defined as increasing the rate of reaction by introducing a catalyst. A catalyst is a substance that is not consumed by the chemical reaction, but it acts to lower its activation energy. In a catalyst, both a reactant and product involve forming a chemical reaction. Catalysis may be classified as either homogenous, whose components are dispersed in the same phase as the reactant, or heterogenous, whose components are not in the same phase.

It develops processes for separating components of liquids and gases.

The role of a chemical engineer would be to design and maintain projects using raw materials and organic matter can be converted to other useful chemical substances.

Organocatalysis

Organocatalysis is defined as the organocatalysts corresponds to a low molecular weight organic molecule which in stoichiometric amounts catalyses a chemical reaction. In this review, the use of the term heterogenized organocatalysts will be exclusively confined to a catalytic system containing an organic molecule immobilized onto some sort of support material and is responsible for accelerating a chemical reaction. The description of the field is provided putting it in a green and sustainable perspective of chemistry. Researchers work on the use of organocatalysts on various inorganic supports including nano materials, nanoparticles, silica, and zeolite/zeolitic materials. Research functions and academic and industrial applications will be outlined.

Surface Chemistry deals with aspects which consists of the surfaces or interfaces. It plays a major role in various chemical processes of enzymatic reactions at the biological interfaces. It is used to detected in the cell walls and membranes. In the electronics making, the use in surface and interface of microchips used in computers. Especially, the characteristic behaviour of mesophases, anomalies observed in the surface tension and viscosity in some thermotropic mesophases, are discussed because of thermodynamic and molecular kinetic theories.

Computational Catalysis

Computational Catalysis process to all heterogeneous catalysts that takes into a surface structure, adsorbate–adsorbate interactions, and reaction conditions. It presented thermodynamic analysis of the system and describe how this can be used to extract equilibrium surface properties from the converged material and provide access to coverage-dependent adsorption energies and surface phase diagrams. Further, it enables simulations of more extended surfaces under fixed temperature and chemical potential conditions, and the average properties from these simulations provide access to average coverages, heat capacities, and phase behaviour. Finally, we describe how these can be applied further to relate surface properties with reaction conditions and to describe surface kinetic processes such as diffusion or adsorption.

Enantioselective catalysis has become such a popular research area, and the subject of so many monographs, symposia, and conferences, that it is challenging to offer many introductions. Enantioselective catalysis consists the catalytic, and selective generation of a given enantiomer of a chiral product from achiral reactants. The non-racemic product from a rigorously achiral or racemic chiral catalyst would provide equal quantities of each enantiomer.
