Andrey Dmitrovskiy graduated from Medical Institute, Almaty, Kazakhstan (1973), completed residency at Kazakh Institute of Epidemiology (1979), worked at Anti-Plague Institute (1979 - 1999). Defended PhD and doctoral dissertations for Yersinioses and Plague. Since 2000, he is professor at Kazakh National Medical University. In 2005 – 09, worked in Central Asian Office of CDC, USA and in 2011-16 in AECOM, USA. Since 2018, he is the head of Diagnostics and Expertise Laboratory of National Center for Biotechnology, Almaty branch, in parallel - professor at Kazakh Medical University. He was supervisor, of 10 PhD and 3 doctoral dissertations, published over 425 works, including 6 monographs. He worked on outbreaks of a number of dangerous infections, including cholera, anthrax, plague, hemorrhagic fevers and COVID-19 in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Vietnam. Area of interest are diagnostics, treatment and epidemiology of infectious diseases, antiepidemic measures and biosafety.
