Xiong Youcai, from Wuhan, Hubei, is a second-level professor at Lanzhou University, the discipline leader of the agricultural ecology and sustainable development team, the director of the Gansu Dryland Agricultural Equipment Industry Technology Center, the director of the Gansu Dryland Agricultural Equipment Industry Technology Center, and the director of the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Arid Area Agriculture and Ecological Restoration. He was selected as a top scientist in the field of botany and agronomy in the world (Research.com), a leading talent in scientific and technological innovation in the National Special Support Program for High-level Talents (Ten Thousand Talents Program) (2018), the Ministry of Science and Technology Innovation Talent Promotion Program (2017), the Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talent Support Program (2007), and the first level of Gansu Province Leading Talents (2020). He edited monographs/textbooks such as "Integrated Research on Water Resources Management in Shiyang River Basin", "Dryland Agricultural Ecology", and "Agricultural Technology in Arid Areas under Climate Change". He also served as editor-in-chief of Ecology and Diversity, chairman of the Ecological Alliance of the Belt and Road University Alliance, and a member of the National Agricultural Non-point Source Pollution Control and Supervision Expert Group. He was awarded the Person of the Year in Chinese Science (2012).
