Mohamed Elsherbiny is a researcher, lecturer, and academic with expertise in medical imaging, diabetes, and aging. Born in Egypt in 1977, he received his PhD in 2012 with a concentration on stem cells. He currently works at Almaarefa University, where he teaches anatomy and embryology to medical students. His study focuses on new approaches for early detection and risk assessment of diabetic diseases, particularly diabetic retinopathy. To increase diagnostic accuracy and predictive modeling, he uses deep learning models such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Transformers, as well as ensemble learning approaches such as CatBoost, XGBoost and Random Forest. Beyond medical imaging, Mohamed studies the relationship between aging and metabolic illnesses, examining how data-driven insights can improve early intervention tactics. His work also emphasizes model interpretability by utilizing SHAP values to ensure transparency in decision-making. He hopes to develop breakthrough healthcare solutions that can benefit elderly populations and diabetics through interdisciplinary collaboration.
