Prof. Ivica Rubelj, PhD graduated and received his doctorate from the University of Zagreb, Croatia and continued postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston and at Louisiana State University Medical Center, New Orleans, USA. As a university professor, he holds several courses in the field of molecular mechanisms of aging and carcinogenesis at graduate and postgraduate studies. For the past 30 years, he has been engaged in scientific research work at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, where he heads the Laboratory for Molecular and Cell Biology, and is currently the head of the Department of Molecular Biology. His main research interest is the structure and function of telomeres and their role in the control of cell aging and the aging process as well as tissue rejuvenation. Over the years, he mentored many graduates, doctoral students and postdocs.
